*** Important Note: Be sure to back up any necessary files before beginning this process. All files, settings, and any other changes you have made since the computer was issued to you will be undone.

Step 1: Back up any documents you wish to keep to a CD using Roxio or any other CD burning program.

Step 2: Open the CD drive and remove your back-up CD (if you made one). Leave the drive open.

Step 3: Turn the laptop off.

Step 4: Insert Recovery CD 1 of 4 and close the drive.

Step 5: Power on the laptop. At the Dell screen, press F12.

Step 6: Choose CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive from the list.

Step 7: Follow the on-screen instructions.
