| |
| A laptop or other wireless-enabled device is needed to
access WiFi. Wireless access uses the WiFi standard
(also known as IEEE 802.11a, b or g). |
| |
| If your laptop does not have wireless built in, you must
purchase a WiFi-compatible network card. The library
cannot guarantee that your equipment will work with the
library's network. |
| |
|
How do I log on to the library's WiFi? |
| |
|
Let your computer connect to the strongest signal (CARL
1 – 7), then open your browser. A log-in screen with the
Army star should appear. You may need to turn off your
popup blocker or change your browser home page if this
screen does not appear – try carl.army.mil. |
| |
| What are the rules for
using WiFi? |
| |
| WiFi users must comply with the
CARL’s Internet Policy, the
Rules Governing Use of the
Combined Arms Research Library and
Wireless Internet Access
Policy. |
| |
| Can I print? |
| |
| Printing is not available via
WiFi. If you need to print, please save your work to a
disk or USB drive or e-mail files to yourself. USB
drives can only be used on community computers. Only USB
drives sanctioned by CGSC DOET may be used on student
computers. |
| |
| Can I use the electrical
outlets? |
| |
| The library has electrical
outlets available for laptop users on the first and
second floor of the library at designated tables. Do not
plug into an outlet where you block the aisles, exits or
access to materials. Do not unplug other equipment. |
| |
| Is the information on my
wireless device safe while I am connected? |
| |
| Wireless connections are not
secure; use caution when transmitting information. The
library is not responsible for damage to software,
hardware or files on equipment connected to the wireless
network. |
| |
| Please keep your electronic
devices, and all of your personal belongings, with you
at all times. |
| |

assistance? |

technical assistance with patron computers. For specific
questions about your hardware or software, contact the
manufacturer. |
